DRIVING DIRECTIONS
From US 27 and Dundee Rd. head east on Dundee
Rd./SR 542. Turn slightly right onto E. Main St.
continuing onto FL-17 S/N Scenic Hwy. Entrance
gate will be on the right just past Stainaker Rd.
which is on the left. Location is approximately 3.92
miles from US 27.
FIND CACHE WITHOUT GPS:
From the parking area, head north on the trail past the
picnic table bearing right. Follow the orange blazes
on your right. Continue to the point where the trail
curves and descends from the berm down to the lake.
Enjoy the lake view from the bench. Come back up
the berm/hill and look for the double orange blazes on
a tree to your right. About 75 feet on your right (SW)
you will see a large multi-trunked tree. The cache is
at the base of that tree. Back track along the berm
and to rejoin the original trail for about 100 feet, then
take the right fork and continue to follow orange
blazes back to the parking area.
(HIKE: 0.9 mile round trip) Note: Add another 0.4
miles to your hike by taking the second loop trail
which begins just left of the resident’s gate.

Pederson Preserve is a 40 acre parcel of upland forest was donated to the Green Horizon Land Trust by the Jim
Pederson family as a wildlife preserve. Located on Scenic Highway, this property on the Lake Wales Ridge was
protected from development for more than 69 years by the Pederson’s.
THINGS TO SEE
The site is home to endangered plants, gopher
tortoises, turkey, great horned owls, bobcat, quail
and numerous butterflies. Bald eagles and
occasionally deer have been seen on the site.
The north loop trail offers a good view of Lake
Annie.
