Freshman Profile
For the fall 2022 semester, more than 22,000 students applied for an
incoming class of 3,800. The median GPA of admitted students was 3.50
(unweighted).
Completing an Application
A complete application for freshman admission includes the following:
A completed online application via the ECU admission portal, CFNC or
the Common Application
Nonrefundable $75 application fee
✦
ECU accepts fee waivers from the College Board, the ACT and the
National Association of College Admissions Counselors.
Ofcial high school transcript, including senior-year courses in progress
and current grade point average on a 4.0 scale. For quicker processing,
North Carolina students are encouraged to send transcripts via CFNC.
Freshmen applying for the fall 2024 term will not be required to submit
standardized (ACT or SAT) test scores to be reviewed for admission
unless they choose to have test scores considered when completing
the admission application. Please note that students applying for terms
after fall 2024 may be required to submit standardized test scores for
admission review.
ECU strongly encourages taking a minimum of two world languages
other than English but will accept substitution courses as described at
go.ecu.edu/requirements.
For students attending a North Carolina public high school, P grades
will not be calculated as part of GPA calculation for admission review.
However, a P grade will provide course credit to meet the minimum
Freshman Core Requirements. Courses with a grade of W will not be
accepted to ll the Freshman Core Requirements.
Students come from all 100 North Carolina counties, 44
states plus the District of Columbia, and 73 countries.
We are the only university in North Carolina with a dental
school, a medical school and a college of engineering and
technology at the same institution.
We boast the largest colleges of business and allied health
sciences in the state.
We produce the largest number of education professionals
in the state.
We train the most new nurses of any of North Carolinas
four-year institutions.
