Title I Parent Involvement Coordinator Introduction Letter

Dear Families,

My name is Beth Burney, and I will be the Parent Coordinator for the Title I elementary

schools in East Providence. I am very excited to have this opportunity to work with you

and your family. Let me tell you a little about myself. I reside in East Providence with

my two children, both of whom attend a Title I elementary school. I have a Bachelor of

Arts degree in psychology with fifteen years of working with adults and children ranging

from home-based services to school settings.

As Title 1 Parent Coordinator, my focus will be on state and district goals and standards

for Title I programming related to parent involvement. I will serve as the liaison between

school and parents; having the responsibility to relay the needs of one to the other. I will

serve as a school-based intermediary contact for concerns and comments made by parents

and community members, will promote sharing of power with parents as decision-

makers, and very importantly, will help parents understand the educational system so that

they may become better advocates for their children’s education. I will be inviting all

families to upcoming school events. Please join us!
