Department launches new public records portal
The Taxation and Revenue Department is making it easier for citizens to request public
records with a new public records management system called GovQA.
The website allows the public to access information by filing a formal request on the
website portal. It also includes frequently asked questions and trending topic pages.
The new automated system will help the Department improve efficiency, increase
transparency, and achieve greater consistency in responding to requests for public
records.
The new portal will help manage the large number of IPRA requests we receive. Our
goal is to make sure that your personal information is safe while ensuring that the public
can obtain records they are entitled to. This new automated system will help with that,”
said Sharon Kirkpatrick, the Department’s record custodian.
The public records request portal, hosted by GovQA, is a web-based public records
request management system. The portal allows requesters to create a personal account
where they can submit public records requests, track the progress of the Department’s
response, and download electronic copies of the records requested.
The online portal may be accessed from the New Mexico Taxation and Revenue website
at: https://www.tax.newmexico.gov/individuals/inspection-of-public-records-request/.
The public can also still submit requests by email to trd.ipra@state.nm.us
or by
contacting the Public Records Custodian Sharon Kirkpatrick at (505) 629-9791.
The Taxation and Revenue Department serves the State of New Mexico by providing fair
and efficient tax and motor vehicle services. It administers more than 35 tax programs
and distributes revenue to the State and to local and tribal governments throughout
New Mexico.
The Department strives to reduce taxpayer burden through clearer communication,
statutes, regulations, forms, correspondence and instructions.
