PARENT SCHOOL VISITATION POLICY
Purpose: The purpose of this policy is for parent awareness as to school visits.
Policy: WSU Charter Academy appreciates the value of parent and school partnership in ensuring a
student’s success, so we encourage our parents to be a part of our school, meet with teachers, and
even observe their students’ classrooms. Therefore, WSU Charter Academy has an open observation
policy for our parents. We encourage you to visit the observation booths anytime during normal
operating hours.
Parents/guardians can visit the classroom (including the playground) at the teacher and/or
school’s invitation. If you wish to visit or give a classroom presentation, please be sure to make an
appointment several days in advance. Siblings should not attend. Teachers will be happy to
schedule a visit or presentation at a mutually convenient time.
In order to protect the privacy of other students and maintain a proper learning environment,
parents/guardians must have advanced permission to film, tape, or record laboratory school
activities during the observation and/or visitation and must turn off mobile phones and pagers.
Principal/Assistant Director of the Center for Family and Community Education, Moyes College of
Education Dean, and/or Moyes College of Education Associate Dean have the authority to deny
access to the school for any individual who has been disruptive or may disrupt or disturb the
learning environment, or who lacks a valid or legal purpose for entering the school.
