Request official transcripts from all previous colleges or universities be sent directly to the UMKC
Office of Admissions. Transcripts are considered official if they are received in a sealed envelope or
sent electronically to the Office of Admissions through Parchment, National Student Clearing House,
or eScrip-Safe. Students applying to transfer with less than 24 credit hours must also submit an official
high school transcript with class rank and ACT score. Students applying to transfer with less than 60
credit hours will need to send in a high school transcript for Financial Aid and Scholarship purposes.

Fall Feb. 15; Spring Nov. 15.
The standard admissions deadlines for transfer students: Fall Jun 15; Spring Nov 15. Applicants
are encouraged to apply well before admissions deadlines. For special program or department

All international students should apply for admission (this includes taking all necessary tests, medical
shots and filing all required application forms and academic records) by January 15

English proficiency If you have taken a TOEFL or IELTS test, please submit a copy of the score if
English is not your native language. The UMKC code is 6872. Only ETS can report official TOEFL
scores to UMKC.

Former students who do not meet the criteria linked above should use the criteria listed under
“Transfer Qualifications.”
Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale for admission to the University. Admission GPA is
calculated by averaging together all courses taken, including repeats, regardless of whether or not it
is applicable to a degree.
Transfer students who do not have a 2.0 or higher college GPA should submit a petition for
admission in addition to their admission application.
Admission requirements for some academic units may be more stringent. See the UMKC catalog
for academic unit and/or program-specific requirements.
Transfer students will be evaluated for admission solely on their college grades after completing
24 credit hours of college-level course work.
Not required for admission to the University for transfer students with 24 or more transferable
credit hours.
Transfer students who have been admitted to UMKC receive an official credit evaluation.

Effective Fall 2018, undergraduate, non-professional students who are legal residents of Arkansas,
Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma,
South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, or Wisconsin will be assessed tuition at 150% the in-state tuition
rate.
Certain majors or courses may require additional fees.
On-campus: Varies by residence hall and meal plan, approximately $11,748. Students who live in
the residence halls are required to have a meal plan. On-campus apartments are also available. For

admission by these dates to be considered for automatic scholarship awards.
All incoming students who have applied for admission and meet the specified scholarship
eligibility criteria are given automatic consideration for certain academic awards. Unless stated, no
separate scholarship application is required. Recipients are notified of their selection by letter.
Automatic Transfer scholarship opportunities include the Chancellor’s Transfer and Chancellor’s
Minority Non-Resident awards. Competitive opportunities include the Phi Theta Kappa & Victor

At least 30 credit hours must be completed at UMKC to receive a UMKC degree. Check with
academic unit for department policy.
At least 12 upper-division (300/400) level credit hours must be completed at UMKC in your major.
Application of transfer credit toward degree requirements is determined by each major department.
Calculation of GPA for the bachelor’s degree includes only grades from those courses taken at
UMKC or another University of Missouri system institution (Columbia, UMSL, or Missouri S&T).
GPA’s from all previous course work completed at other post-secondary institutions may
be considered for admission to the professional schools or certain programs at UMKC.
All grades shall be included in the GPA calculation for admission purposes. Once admitted, only UM
System GPA is used for graduation purposes.
In general, courses with a grade of D will transfer. For some programs, a grade of D may not be
used to satisfy specific requirements.
Credit over 15 years old at the time of application for graduation may not be counted toward the
fulfillment of an undergraduate field of study or concentration unless validated to the satisfaction
of the department or school/college.
Credit given for some military courses, independent study, Advanced Placement and subject
matter tests only with copy of report for CLEP.
