Families must provide proof they received free to
reduced-price meals through the National School
Lunch Program, to get P-EBT benefits. To prove
the child is eligible for P-EBT, families can provide
a copy of the award letter that is sent to parents
when their children become eligible for the
National School Lunch Program. If they don’t
have the award letter, the child nutrition director
from their school should be able to provide you
with a copy. If the child goes to a CEP or P2
school where all students in the school
automatically participate in the National School
Lunch Program, families can provide a copy of a
student ID card or report card.
The following information is optional on the
application for each child:
• Child’s middle name
• Child’s Social Security
• School ID #
While this term can vary depending on your
school or district, it may be referred to as
Student ID or Local ID. You should be able to
find the number on your child’s report card, by
logging into the student or parent portal, or
by asking your child.
